Design for the Future

The Design of Future thingsStarted reading Donald Norman’s “The Design of Future Things.”  As usual, Norman takes the readers to uncomfortable zones where one must think carefully about the relationships between smart machines and humans and about the predictions for some sort of symbiosis between the two.  Nice use of the man and horse relationship and lots of examples of machines that are presently making demands, contributions, and suggestions on improving our lives.  What does happen if the refrigerator and the toilet are synced?  Will probably use this book for next time I teach Usability and Interaction.  Definitely recommend for anyone who considers themselves a designer and a technologist.
